  • Opposed the “surge” in U.S. troops in Iraq.

  • Has said it is not naïve to think Iraq can become a democracy, but that failed policies have diminished its likelihood.

  • Has said that “changing course in Iraq is the first step in restoring America's ability to provide moral leadership in the world.”

  • Apologized for voting in favor of Iraq war authorization resolution.

  • Thinks attention to Bin Laden was diverted because of Iraq, and maintains no connection between 9/11 and Saddam Hussein.

  • Feels our policy regarding relations with Latin America is either to disengage or bully.

  • Believes that America ought to lead an international effort to make primary school education available to every single one of the 100 million children in the world, largely in Africa, who have no education whatsoever.

  • Says we should close Guantanamo, end torture, and comply with the Geneva Convention.

  • Thinks the GOP candidates are Bush on steroids, and that all Democratic candidates would end the war.

  • Wants to keep the troops at the embassy and border, but out of the civil war in Iraq.

Thank you.
John Edwards' remarks today in New Orleans: "I began my presidential campaign here to remind the country that we, as citizens and as a government, have a moral responsibility to each other, and what we do together matters. We must do better, if we want to live up to the great promise of this country that we all love so much. It is appropriate that I come here today. It's time for me to step aside so that history can blaze its path. We do not know who will take the final steps to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but what we do know is that our Democratic Party will make history. We will be strong, we will be unified, and with our convictions and a little backbone we will take back the White House in November and we'll create hope and opportunity for this country."

Why John has their vote

Displays why others are voting for John Edwards. These are randomly selected.
Because I am $20,000 in debt, I pay $400 per month for my prescription medications, and John Edwards seems to be the only viable candidate who gives a shit.
HEALTHCARE!
He's the most sexiest politician of the century!
I believe that John Edwards is, by and large, the most intelligent Democratic candidate, and, as far as my liberal poltics go, the right man for the job. On some smaller issues, I would like to see more of a conservative stance (such as even more staunch government spending reform, the economy, etc), but I willingly sacrifice those in support of the ever-increasingly importance social and environmental issues: abortion, gay rights, combating greenhouse emissions, gun rights, etc. My only complaints are: it will probably not be, in the interest of national security, possible to withdraw from Iraq at even a moderate pace. It will take time, education, military force, and, unfortunately, more money. Still, Edwards get my vote, and I wish him the best! Keep the standards high!

Our nation needs John Edwards to bring us back together as a nation and heal the wounds caused by Bush. We need to again have hope for the American dream. America needs John Edwards!
Clearest message, has a chance to win overall.
John Edwards is the only candidate to present bold ideas about universal healthcare, global warming and energy, fighting terrorism, and ending the war in Iraq
I support John Edwards because he has a vision for America. He realizes the issues facing our country and has the leadership to take advantage of our opportunities. A vote for John Edwards is a vote for a cleaner environment, stronger healthcare system, and our only opportunity to have One America!
In Spite of Kucinich's support of Obama I think that Edwards is in reality closer in priniciples to Kucinich. The Obama definition of Universal Healthcare is a joke. Edwards is the true choice for the working class.
I feel he is more educated on the issues and overall more experienced than many of the other democratic candidates.
I am voting for John Edwards for President as he is the only candidate I have seen who has a plan to make America a better place for All Americans!!!!
We have policy. You have what?
He stands for environmental justice.
He has a plan to get America back on track. He has a plan to get health coverage to all. He opposes the war, but supports our troops. He wants to bring our troops home. He is real and down-to-earth. He's an honest politician, which is something we have not seen in a long time. The reasons are endless.
This explains why I "voted" for John Edwards. "I have stood with ordinary Americans at the most difficult times in their lives, when all the power of corporate America was arrayed against them.” - John Edwards
Healthcare policy!!
Because he's truly commited to ending the war in Iraq, fighting poverty and improving healthcare!
Bill Clinton's Prodigy, Hopefully he's ready to follow in his teachers footsteps.
John Edwards has good ideas in the fields of the environment, the war in Iraq, and healthcare. He is winning a lot of votes by supporting unions. He doesn't seem to be hiding anything (unlike Barak and Hill) and has doing more for the issues he cares about this time around.
Has balls; has cred; has conviction (listening, Hillary?); has a populist platform (listening, Barack?).
Of the democratic front-runners, Edwards is most obviously the most well-rounded and most sincere canidate.
John Edwards was my candidate of choice in 2004 and still is. I think he is the best person to be POTUS!
1) I like him and his policies. 2) No democratic president who was not from the south has been elected since Kennedy.
Hillary Clinton has too much baggage from the last Clinton administration, Barack Obama needs more experience, Joe Biden is too pro-war and has been prone to embarassing gaffes, Bill Richardson hasn't impressed me so far, and Dennis Kucinich talks tough and has good ideas for the future of our country, but has not been as specific as Edwards has been in his plans to implement them. Simply put, of the top-tier Democratic candidates, Edwards has been the most consistent of the candidates and has been a true leader on issues from the Iraq war to health care to poverty relief. Edwards spoke out against the Democratic concession to President Bush on Iraq War funds while Clinton and Obama simply and quietly voted against the bill. Edwards is a leader, not a follower, and that's why I feel he will be the nominee and the next President of the United States.
